On March 1, the industry Agro-Industrial Conference “Agro Day” was held with the support of the Kommersant. Leading Russian experts and specialists of the agro-industrial complex and related industries discussed current trends and prospects for the development of the agricultural market, including in the context of external geopolitical constraints. One of the main trends today is still the digital transformation of the industry. A separate session was devoted to this topic, at which Vasily Chernyshov, Chief Operating Officer of PROGRESS JSC, spoke.
The Agro Day conference brought together on one platform representatives of government authorities and leaders of the agro-industrial industry, such as manufacturers, suppliers, heads of departments and experts of the largest agricultural holdings and food industry enterprises. The meeting agenda included discussion of current problems and trends in the industry, as well as plans and prospects for the development of Russian agribusiness.
One of the key topics of the conference was the digitalization of agriculture. Experts shared the best practices on the implementation and use of “smart” solutions in industrial enterprises. Vasily Chernyshov, Chief Operating Officer of PROGRESS JSC, spoke about the successful experience of digitalization of the company’s factory in Lipetsk, which today is one of the largest baby food production enterprises in Europe and produces more than 250 products under the FrutoNanny brand.
According to the expert, PROGRESS JSC is gradually moving towards full digitalization. The Lipetsk plant of the company actively uses automated solutions for managing production processes. Digital monitoring systems allow for assessing the logistics load, analyzing the product range and the efficiency of production lines, and even keeping records of energy consumption. The planned transition to automated control systems will allow the company to further integrate and control several business processes and conduct end-to-end production planning.
“Today, the introduction of digital technologies is necessary for the sustainable development of business and the industry as a whole. Digitalization can take production to a whole new level, while allowing for greater efficiency and savings. It is especially important to introduce ‘smart’ solutions at agricultural enterprises, since the results of their work largely depend on external and not always controllable factors, for example, weather conditions. Industrial enterprises that have missed the moment of transformation will lose heavily to their competitors. The introduction of new technologies and digitalization of business is a long and complex process that requires competencies and experience, as well as support from the industry and its stakeholders,” said Vasily Chernyshov, Chief Operating Officer of PROGRESS JSC.
